Building Trust and Better Relationships Between Landowners and Sportsmen
The Common Ground program has been in existence since 2012 and has successfully convened landowners and sportsmen to develop mutual understanding and trust. The group also has helped improve Montana’s Block Management Program.
Building on this success, Common Ground now strives to develop an advanced hunter education curriculum for hunters in Montana and to secure permission for hunters who complete the curriculum to access up to 100,000 acres of private land in the first year.
Through the education, One Montana facilitates better educated, more responsible and more ethical hunters on Montana soil as well as works to address general criticism of hunter behavior in Montana and landowner reports that hunter behavior is a reason they no longer allow access.
