Innovation creates improved student experiences.

The Challenge

In March 2019, in partnership with Jobs for Montana graduates (JMG), One Montana piloted our first one-day Innovation Challenge Workshop during JMG’s IGNITE Conference.

Eighteen students from JMG classrooms across Montana participated in One Montana's inaugural Innovation Challenge. This one-day project-based workshop immersed students in the Design Thinking problem-solving methodology to address the question, "How might we improve the school experience for high school students?" After conducting interviews with over 70 of their JMG peers attending the conference, teams designed innovative prototypes to improve the school experience in the areas of reduction of bullying, peer-to-peer academic tutoring, and teacher support

Having established proof of concept for the one-day Innovation Challenge, One Montana is making this workshop available to administrators and teachers across the state who would like to implement one at their school.
